Overall I don't think there's a ton of overlap between the two bundles, so if you have a use for both it's probably just a matter of which to get first. With that said, I only have Komplete Select so far, so I'm not familiar with how NI's piano offerings stack up against the piano in V Collection, which I really like and use for all my piano parts. It's just a lot more diverse, and there are way more things you can do with Komplete but not V Collection than vice versa. It's not really a fair comparison since V Collection is cheaper, but I'd totally go with Komplete if I had to choose one of the two. Arturia is an awesome company, but it's hard to recommend them to anyone unless the first thing on their mind is synths.
My first hardware synth, I picked up the Arturia Microfreak.
The Arturia Collection is more so for synth enthusiasts. Komplete is meant to be a total package across all instrument types and genres. You also get all the Native Instruments FX like Replika (delay), Transient Master, Supercharger (saturation), Raum (reverb), Phasis (phaser), etc. Kontakt is more or less the host plugin for most live sampled instrument libraries. Strings, brass, woodwinds, guitars, live drums, bass guitars, big band horns, ethnic instruments from around the world, etc. Komplete 13 is loaded with its own synths, Massive, Massive X, Absynth, FM8, and everything in Reaktor (Razor, Kontour, Monark, FORM, etc.) Komplete gives you all the orchestral and real instrument tools too though. Not that you can't do more modern stuff with it, but most of modern EDM are from the digital synths like Serum, Spire, Massive, Vital, Sylenth1, Zebra, etc. It's the full thing.Īrturia Collection is nice, but I'd recommend it largely for people who want to do stuff like synthwave or recreate the classic synth sounds of the 1970s-80s. Yeah, NI Komplete is going to win against anything you throw at it.
